How today's primary elections work
On its face, today's primary will be simple enough: Voters cast ballots in one primary or another, and whichever candidates get the most votes are the winners.
Well, sort of. Read the fine print and you're actually voting to apportion delegates to a party nominating convention. Delegates at those conventions will then pick the Republican and Democratic nominees for president.
