Very moving "commercial"

This is a "commercial" of sorts made by a soldier titled "Dear Mr. Obama". It's had over 3 million hits on YouTube, which is great! You can read the story about it if you go to it on YouTube (I think you can double click the video and it'll open the window, but just in case, here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TG4fe9GlWS8) Be sure to watch it all the way to the end, it's not that long.

Janet, it's your favorite commentator again.

I believe that it is a shameful and disgusting misconception to believe that most or even half of our troops support the Republicans' terribly misguided foreign policy of the past eight years.

Like the gentleman in the video, I too am a veteran. I deployed on multiple tours in the so-called "global war on terrorism." Luckily, I came back with all of my limbs, but I do not believe that Iraqis are better off now than they were in 2002. Just ask an Iraqi.

Also, I do NOT support Senator John McCain's reckless foreign policy ideas. Bush and Rumsfeld were generally unpopular in my military. (Gates has a slightly better reputation). I served on active duty from 2001 through 2007.

Whether or not anyone chooses to support either candidate for the upcoming election, I believe it is imperative that we support America's troops. They have sworn to protect us and defend America against her enemies.

Thank you to all the brave men and women who are willing to lay their lives down for their country-- no matter what political party is in office.

I agree with that wholeheartedly.

And the single best way to show our troops how much we care is to demand a fully funded VA, where all soldiers have access to mental health screenings upon returning from combat duty. Where Walter Reed Hospital is one of the country's best, not an embarrassment with less than third-world quality healthcare. We need much more than bumperstickers and flags to really support our troops.
