Getting interesting here in Georgia and we have a long way to go before the 2010 elections!
Last week Sam Olens (Cobb County Commission) announced he would run for Attorney General. Ken Turner is in on the Democrat side of the aisle.
Vernon Jones (D) is rumored to be considering a run for Secretary of State.
Congressman Lynn Westmoreland was considering a run for Governor but has decided to stick with Congress. I'm glad he made that decision.
Eric Johnson and David Shafer are still trying to decide which way to go after Casey Cagle decided to stick with his current office (Lt. Governor). Now Johnson and Shafer have to decide whether to take on a Republican counterpart or move into other races. Timing is everything in politics. If not now, when? What kind of openings will there be? If they tussle with Cagle will they hurt the Republican's chances against a Democratic opponent? What are their chances against a fairly well-liked opponent?
There are a lot of questions about Cagle's decision not to run for Governor. I understand he has made public the x-rays of his back problems to try and put some of the rumors to bed regarding the alleged "real" reason he stepped down. Lots of fodder for gossip with the move he made.
We're listing the candidates on the Georgia Front Page, adding their releases and other info. We haven't added the above yet... it's Sunday. Church day.
