Rudy Giuliani to run for NY Governor?

Wouldn't that be something if he did? I lived in New York for a short spell ( 3 - 4 years) and loved the state. It is so much bigger and more than the city that most picture when they hear "New York". Great camping, beautiful scenery, etc. I could write a blog just about the great people I met... All my reminiscences aside, it's an important state and it'd be great to have someone like Rudy at the helm. Not to mention it would mean another Republican governor in the mix, and one who's popular with most and not afraid to stand strong and speak out.

This'll be interesting to watch. I hope he runs.

Aside from Rudy's potential run is the story that it was dropped into (see below). Obama has sent a message to New York Governor Patterson telling him not to run... The President is telling people he doesn't want them to run for office??? It's one of those things that you know happens in conversations... someone quietly discourages another from running, gives 'em hints, etc. This is rather blatant involvement.

I'd write more about it, but The Georgia Gang is going to be on in a minute and that's a must see every Sunday morning.

Obama Said to Request That Paterson Drop Campaign

President Obama has sent a request to Gov. David A. Paterson that he withdraw from the New York governor’s race, fearing that Mr. Paterson cannot recover from his dismal political standing, according to two senior administration officials and a New York Democratic operative with direct knowledge of the situation....

...The general election is more than a year away, but Mr. Obama and his political team are moving now in part because of signals from Rudolph W. Giuliani, the former New York City mayor, that he may run for governor, according to Democrats who have spoken with White House officials. Many Democratic leaders believe that Mr. Giuliani’s presence at the top of the Republican ticket could spark enthusiasm among his party’s voters, who might otherwise have little desire to go to the polls.
