Desecration of the United States Flag
I would be equally outraged if the face of George Bush, Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan or ANY President, President-elect or individual were superimposed on the flag of our country.
I'm sure this is probably some company capitalizing on the enthusiasm of the moment? I hope it's not something sanctioned by any official group or agency associated with the Obama campaign!
I think as this goes viral, and it will, someone sooner or later will find out who chose to deface our flag to idolize a man, albeit one who will be our President come Tuesday.
Can you begin to imagine the fury a similar flag with George Bush's face on it would have, or would, invoke? I hope everyone in America will voice their concern about this. Write to your elected officials, send letters to the editor, blog and spread the word.
Flag Code, Section 8g: "The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature." Section 8: "No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America." Section 8j: "The flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing."
Hat tip to Michelle Malkin!

Amendment to Constitution to repeal 22nd Article: Remove Presidential term limits
I'm not overly concerned about this --- yet --- but it bears watching.
Rep. Jose Serrano (NY-16) has introduced H.J.Res.5 which proposes to amend the Constitution of the United States to repeal the 22nd article of amendment. This would remove the limitation on the number of terms a President may serve.
He introduced it January 6th, 2009.
There are no co-sponsors which leads me to believe this might just be grandstanding, maybe wishful thinking... then again, it may be the beginning of a future movement that could take the country by surprise. I can't see this going anywhere at the moment, if ever. Let's hope it will never gain any momentum.
Git-R-Done brought this to my attention via email (www.realusa.ning.com - Conservative Talk) and I'm certainly glad he's watching! We need people who will be vigilant on issues like this one.
Serrano has one of the smallest districts in the country geographically. Located in the Bronx, it's small, but jam-packed with a mainly Hispanic population according to various sources I checked on the Internet.
Check out Serrano's stances on issues here: http://whereistand.com/JoseSerrano

Interesting blog on economy, where the world is heading...
Logistics Monster, one of my fellow Read My Lipstick Network member blogs, is doing a series on 'America's Economic Collapse'. I'll have to admit I haven't read them all - yet. The one on Swiss Bank Closing Offshore American Accounts (below) caught my attention in the four-part series (thus far). Interesting points and rather scary, too.
Per the article Logistics cites, UBS is closing offshore accounts under pressure from the IRS. In broad, general terms: The Swiss have always had strict privacy rules that allowed the world's wealth to earn interest outside the bounds of their own country without taxation.
Now it seems the U.S. government has pierced the veil.
While many will be clapping their hands because those greedy capitalists now have to pay taxes on their money, there's more to the issue than just one Swiss bank handing its' customers over to be potentially prosecuted.
What's the next step? Where are we headed in this world? What's going to happen when all the money made by our home-grown businesses and individuals is pulled back into this country? Will businesses start to move to other countries? Is there a mad scramble going on right now to find other ways to shelter money? Is this the first domino or is UBS different because they've been setting up shop here in the U.S.?
This little story may end up being the beginning of a huge shift in our world!
Swiss Bank Closing Offshore American Accounts

According to Reuters, (and this post is being updated), UBS, a Swiss wealth manager, is closing U.S. clients’ offshore accounts because of pressure from the United States Government, and the IRS is benefiting.
