ACTION NEEDED!
PLEASE HELP ME SAVE HB 1164! This bill is our last chance to get any law in place to provide for punishment of contractors working on taxpayer funded Public Works contracts who refuse to use E-Verify and who hire black-market labor...which is already a violation of the state law.
TODAY, FRIDAY, March 26 is day 30 of the 40 legislative day session - "crossover day" - at the Georgia Capitol. That means that any bill that has not been passed in either the House or the Senate is dead as stand alone legislation. TODAY, FRIDAY MARCH 26, 2010 is what I called "drop dead day."
HB 1164 IS NOT DEAD YET. The Georgia Legislature will be in session all day TODAY, FRIDAY, MARCH 26, 2010 until about midnight getting bills out.
We can easily save HB 1164. Honest. If I remember correctly, last year, we got HB 2 out on the last possible day.
I need you to please help me with phone calls AND e-mails to the Chairman of the House Rules Committee ONLY. That is Reprehensive Bill Hembree. Chairman Hembree is very nice man who is new to the Chair position in the Rules Committee. His assistant Dona ( not Donna) is also very nice. Please call Chairman Hembree's office, then send an email to Dona's address asking that HB 1164 be passed out of Rules committee and sent to the House floor for a vote TODAY, March 26. Then send an EMAIL too!

TODAY, FRIDAY, MARCH 26, 2010, HB 1164 must clear House Rules Committee, be sent to the House floor for a vote and pass the House.
Then it can go to the Senate for a vote sometime before the end of session next month.
